Question

Saving from PS back to LR (Cloud)

I am using MacBook Pro, Mac OS Monterey and the subscription (newest) version of PhotoShop and Lightroom (NOT Classic). All the tutorials I have seen (not many for LR Cloud version) show that when you take a photo from LR to edit in PS, when you are done editing you just click "Save" and it automatically saves your edited photo back to LR. Most of the time while it looks like it is saving, the edited photo does not show up in LR.  Other times I get a "Tiff Options" box with selections for Image Compression, Pixel Order, Byte Order and Layer Compression???

How do I simply save my PS edited photo back to LR?

You are supposed to close the file in PS in order to return the Tiff to Lightroom. Have you tried that? Doing "Save" doesn't work for me, but nor is it supposed to.

When I make minor modifications to a LR photo, "Save" and then close the photo - it works perfectly.  (I did shut down LR and PS and restart my computer, as well...)  However, when I've used Layers and Blends creating a ME/Composite image, it doesn't work. I've waited, thinking it might take longer, but no luck.

One way to do it is to save from Photoshop to the Cloud.  Here is a help article that covers saving to the cloud.  Feel free to clarify if I've misunderstood your question 🙂

Thank you for your response.  Yes, I know how to save my edited photo either into the Cloud or on my Computer.  But suppose I want the photo to show up in my Lighroom Folder/Album both for the purpose of organizing my photos in one place and also to do any final editing within LR. In tutorials I have seen, the person demonstrating just goes to File/Save (or cmd S) and the edited photo is saved right next to the original photo in LR .

Also, I just tried it again. If I only make minor modifications to the photo (like rotating it or inverting it) then it does come back to LR (though slower than I thought it should).  When I am using the layers feature of LR is when it does not come back when I save it to LR.
