Search does not work as intended on Mobile Lightroom. Android. Version v11.4.5.

When searching, for example a certain focal length, the results vary based on if you click on a suggested tag, or if you write it all on your own and press search.

For example.

I have an album with 417 photos. 29 of then are taken with Nikon 300mm f4 lens. The information page shows the correct infromation of the lens.

That is "300 mm (300.0 mm f/4.0)"

When I try to use the search bar, I get results in this way:

"300mm" 0 photos.

"300 mm" 0 photos

Writing "300 mm" but instead of pressing search, I click the recommended tag that says "300 mm" 417 photos

"300.0mm" 0

"300.0 mm" 29

Writing "300.0 mm" it will not give a recommended tag for "300.0", instead it gives a tag "300.0 mm f/4.0" and clicking it will give 0 photos

"300.0 mm f/4.0" 29

Other forms of "300.0 mm f/4.0" with "300mm" or "300 mm", "300.0mm", "f/4" Etc, will give 0 photos or all 417, but I think that is as it's supposed to be.

So basically the tags do not work and searching for focal lengths doesn't work correctly. This same thing happens with all of the lenses and their tags.

None of this happens on my Apple ipad.

The search works on ipad as intended and it used to be the same with android. I have not used the app in a while so I don't know how long it has been this way.

Ipad gets results like this:

"300mm" 0

"300 mm" 29

"300 mm" pressing the tag that says "300 mm"  29

"300.0mm" 0

"300.0 mm" 29

"300.0 mm" pressing recommended tag "300.0 mm f/4.0" 29

"300.0 mm f/4.0" 29

So clearly something in android version is wrong. I have reinstalled, cleared cache, turned phone off, etc. Nothing helps.

I don't need further help, just letting you know so you can fix the bugs.

I will gladly accept a year of free lightroom for all these hours i used testing the bug and writing this. Thank you. :]

Connected my ipad to internet and apparently it had older version. Now the search works differently.

Tags seem to work, but the same text as the tag written in search gives 0 photos.

    Great.

I don't know why this got tagged as the "correct answer", when it was not even about the Android versions problem that the main post was about..

Hi @Bob62756624 , No problem! I was able to change it back. Thank you for reporting this issue! Our engineering team is aware of issues affecting search functionality on Lightroom Android, particularly after updating from an older version. They're actively working on fixes targeted for upcoming releases, so this may be related.

In the meantime, here are a few things you can try:

    • Use the Filter icon instead of text search: Tap the funnel/filter icon in your Library view and use the structured Keyword, Camera, or Metadata filters. These tend to be more reliable than the search bar right now.

    • Clear the app cache: Go to Android Settings → Apps → Lightroom → Storage → Clear Cache, then force-stop and relaunch the app.

    • Sign out and sign back in: This can help reset the local search index on your device.

    • Keep the app updated: A fix is expected in an upcoming release, so please make sure automatic updates are enabled.

Please let us know if any of these steps help; otherwise, keep an eye on this thread for updates. I hope this helps! ^CH
