Selecting a folder with more than 1000 photos takes ages to compile and display on my screen.

Hi ​@JBedfordPhoto, Lightroom (cloud) handles large local folders differently than Classic, so this is unfortunately a known pain point. Here are some things to try:

1. Pause sync while browsing large folders — Lightroom cloud simultaneously generates previews, reads metadata, and syncs/uploads. Pausing sync lets the UI catch up.

2. Ensure photos are on a fast internal SSD — If they're on an external or network drive, that would explain the lag vs. Classic (which handles preview caching differently).

3. Check for antivirus/indexing interference — Windows real-time scanning on large photo folders can cripple Lightroom's thumbnail generation.

4. Update to the latest version and check the Known Issues page — there may be a regression fix available.

5. Let the initial preview build complete — The first time a large folder is selected, Lightroom has to build all thumbnails. Subsequent visits should be faster.
