When I use Selective Edit on my iPhone, only the Radial and Linear tools work. The Brush will not move from the center of the image when I drag with my finger. Help!

Correct answer Ignacio B.

For anyone running into this on iOS
Please try to:
1. disable the 3D touch settings in iOS.
2. restart app, alt after restarting device.
3. enable 3D touch settings.

Thanks,
Ignacio

You’ve posted to a very old thread. It is highly unlikely that the issue described in this thread, though not impossible, is the same issue which you are currently experiencing. Rather than resurrect an old thread that is seemingly similar, you are better posting to a new thread with fresh, complete information including system information, a complete description of the problem and step-by-step instructions for reproduction.

In the unlikely event the issue is the same, we will merge you back into the appropriate location.

Thank you!

Hi, I had this exact same problem.  I fixed it by going into the Settings on my ipad (assume this will be the same for iPhone) and then select "Apple Pencil" and I turned OFF "only draw with Apple Pencil" and it worked liked it did before the update.  Hope that fixes things for you too!

I was trying to brush a mask and it would just drag the image around. Turning off "only draw with Apple Pencil " in settings fixed it for me. 🙂

Same here, I use an Iphone 7 128GB free, yet I've reinstalled the app and readjusted the 3D settings and it just appears the blue diamond, the flow is at 100% and nothing happens!

Double check whether the flow is really set to 100 as it sounds exactly like what happens if it is set to 1. If it is set to 1, the flow icon will look like a checkered ball.

Sadly I am absolutely certain the flow is set to 100%

Have you tried to double tap on the blue diamond and see if that shows the overlay? Or long pressing on it and selecting Auto Show Red Overlay (it’s probably on that anyway)

Select your brush size and then tap once on the photo area and use circular motions to paint the red mask. Then click e.g. light etc. and use the sliders to adjust the selected area. The red mask should automatically disappear so that you can see the adjustment being made. Click the checkmark when done.

That's exactly what I have been doing. It doesn't work. When I select the brush size, a red mask appears in the center of the image to show me the size. The mask disappears when I release the brush sizer. Then I tap the center of the area I want to edit and a blue diamond appears there. I use circular motions around the diamond to cover the area I want to edit. NO MASK APPEARS. The sliders unlock but have no effect on any area of the picture.

Check the flow setting for the brush (third circular icon, below size icon). Maybe the flow is set so low you can’t see any changes happening.
