Shift+click function no longer working for brush masking tool

I'm using Adobe Lightroom (Creative Cloud based, version 7) on a Windows PC. I frequently use the brush function to create masks when editing. In the past, I have been able to create straight lines in any direction with the brush tool by creating a brush stroke with the mouse, then moving the mouse to where I want the straight line to end, and using shift+click to create the straight line.

Holding down shift while using the brush still works, but this only gives me the ability to create strictly horizontal and vertical lines.

I have tried restarting the app, restarting my computer, and checking for updates.

The loss of this function has made it much more difficult to create masks along straight edges. I appreciate any insight into resolving this issue.

I can't seem to edit or delete the post, but it looks like the issue is not happening when I try the function on another photo. I used other functions such as Objects under the same mask, so I'm assuming that must be the issue. It looks like I'll just have to create a separate mask.
