While syncing photos from camera rool I get a message Skipped importing duplicates. But they are not duplicates.

I have a similar problem -- I'm importing two files that originated as the same shot in camera but are different physical files — one is imported as a smart preview from Lightroom Classic desktop, and the other is a full size file that's physically stored on my iPad. The two files have different names.

Lightroom Mobile doggedly refuses to import the second file and says it skipped it as a duplicate. But these files are not duplicates.

Anyone know how to stop this behaviour?
I often need to have two versions of the same file on my iPad for professional work.

You may have two different files named differently, but if Lightroom detects that EXIF data (capture time) and File Size are the same, then it possibly declares them 'duplicates'.

If you require the full-size files in the Cloud (eg. for exporting full-size on the iPad) then import the original file using Lightroom-Desktop (Cloud version 6.2).

For "two versions"- Use the 'Versions' feature of Lightroom, or Virtual Copies in Lightroom-Classic.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

Thanks, Rob

Yes - LR Mobile is making an assessment of its own based on various data including EXIF — it's that assessment that we need to circumvent for our professional workflow.
Unfortunately, your suggestion will not work for us — LR Cloud is not suitable for us due to various roadblocks in its cloud model, so we need LR Classic (or another file management tool entirely).
We have a workaround but, as with much of LR's file management, it's a kludge.

The easy answer is to simply allow users to think for themselves and allow them to force import a duplicate.

Thanks for the input. Cheers!

If it does seem like a bug, could someone post here:

Lightroom for mobile | Photoshop Family Customer Community

It may be picked a Lightroom engineer there, though Rikk may have passed it on anyway.

The same problem here. I tried imported 4 photos at once, but only one appears in LR CC. Now I got error message about duplicate every time I try to import of remaining 3 photos.

Import was via Android app.

I get that too. I don't think this was a problem before the recent app update. I had to delete all photos from my catalog. Using an Ipad 2018 with the latest ios.

Are they unsupported files perhaps? HEVC or HEIF?
