Skipping duplicates on Import but are not duplicates

I'm hoping some one can help me. In trying to import pictures onto Lightroom and and I keep getting a notification saying skipping importing duplicates but they are not duplicates. How do I fix this so I can import my photos?

    Which version of the application are you using? Can you rename them before importing them?

    What format are the photos, and how and where are you trying to import them?
