Slow image uploads in Lightroom, macOS 10.14,

Question

I am attempting to upload over 1000 photos to LR. The upload speed is insanely slow. I purchased more memory and it made no difference. I have more than 1/2 of a TB of free space on my laptop. My internet connection is good enough to stream television. What could be the cause of these slow upload speeds? I have tried to download LRC to avoid the internet but my computer is fully updated at 10.14 and LRC requires 10.15. Im not sure how to overcome that either.

Could you please confirm the type of images you are working with? Are they JPEG or RAW? Which version of Lightroom are you using? Have you tried any troubleshooting steps? Do you use other applications along with Lightroom? Can you tell us the upload speed, download speed, and the Ping of the internet connection? You can check this by going to www.speedtest.net

In Adobe Lightroom, you can keep the storage location of the original to the SSD (assuming it is an internal drive) as it is faster than the HDD so that previews will upload faster. Storing a copy of originals is purely optional; set the location of the rest of the database onto the SSD.
