Slow to display image picked from filmstrip

I hate to say this, but it seems like every time there is an update to LR on iPad something breaks and performance gets worse. I already commented on other bugs for specific issues, but in general everything is slower now.

concerning LR 10.2.1 on iPadOS 18.3.1:

My main gripe is that if you select a different photo from the picker across the bottom, it takes ages for the app to become responsive again. you can no longer switch back and forth between photos quickly because each time you have to wait some indeterminate amount of time to even be able to open the light or color panels or switch to another photo. you have to just sit there as no inputs are registered.

I am on an M4 iPad Pro and it used to be very fast to do all of these things. This slows my workflow to a crawl.

Hey, @Chase5FAD. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Our team is unable to recreate the given steps. It'll help if you include a video of the behavior you see.

For now, log on to Lightroom Web (https://adobe.ly/3xdotLH) and check for all the images synced and uploaded to the cloud. Once everything is backed up to the cloud, uninstall Lightroom, restart the iPad & install Lightroom from the App Store, and let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

@Sameer K

Im sorry, but deleting and reinstalling the app and either redownloading or reimporting all my photos is unacceptable. all of this used to work fine, it still should, the app shouldnt get worse with updates, which unfortunately seems to almost always be the case lately...

It is less obvious if you dont have any panels open on the right, but if you have the light or color panels open on the right for example, it can take upwards of 5-10s for any inputs to be registered by the app. you cant zoom, change to a different photo, open a different panel, move a slider, etc.

i took a screen recording to demonstrate this behavior that didnt happen previously. All of the photos in this album are stored locally, my cloud storage is full so there is no syncing happening, not that that mattered previously either. I am tapping the next picture as soon as the current pic is loaded in this entire screenrecording, you can see the delay. This does seem to only be happening on this one album though which is strange, other albums have raws from the same a7r5 as this one....

Thanks for sharing the video. Sorry for the delay. How much free space do you have on this iPad? Does this happen with images that've been edited before, or even with freshly imported images?

Could you share a set of images from the specific camera, or verify if this happens with any other RAW & non raw images as well?

Thanks!
