Slow to synchronize settings with other photos

I've recenly upgraded my computer and although I've been told my system should run much faster (better vidoe card, more ram etc), when I try and sync a bunch of photo edits, it takes way longer than before. My computer tec does not think it's my systme but rather a lightroom problem. Any ideas what this could be?  Thanks for any tips!
