Question

Some edits in PS (iPad) gets transferred to LR (iPad), but not all edits

So, I just jumped the gun and got Adobe again after micking about everything else for a while...feels good to just "get" stuff again.

 

BUT...I'm encountering several weird behaviours. I add an image to LR, send it to PS, do my edits and then send it back to LR. But not all the edits I've done is sent over, but some are. For example, anything color/lighting/levels are transferred, but none of the healing brush edits are. It does get saved, that works. I can close the image and reopen it and all edits are still there. But the moment I send it back to LR again, all the dust/scratch edits are gone. But color changes are there? What's up?

 

Sometimes...well, quite often actually, the "Send to LR" blue button is also missing, even if I got the image sent from LR. 

 

As it is, I can't use this software to edit stuff because, it critically doesn't work.

 

Anyone else experiencing this?

 

Its also waaaaay quicker to import from Jottacloud than iCloud....just mentioning it.

Thanks for posting the issues you are experiencing with 'Edit in Ps' on iPad. I tried but failed to reproduce your reported issues ('Send to Lr' button & edits including healing). In order to investigate these, I would like to get some more info from your end to replicate the issues since we do not have these reported in  our system which means no one encountered these yet.

1. Which iPad are you working on?

2. Which iOS version is it updated to?

3. Which file formats have you been experiencing the missing 'Send to Lr' button and edits missing when sent back to Lr?

4. Which versions of the app you have installed on your device?

5. Would you be able to share some images here with us that reproduces the issues consistently?

6. Is your Lr catalog very large? How much free cloud storage you have for your account?

7. Are you working offline or connected to network?

8. Screenshots or images of before and after editing in Ps.

9. Is there any thing specific to your workflow that we should keep in mind ? May be a video of it would help.

Thanks for taking time to let us know about these issues. Once we reproduce these internally, we will work on getting them fixed.

iPad Pro M1 12.9"

 

2. Which iOS version is it updated to?

 

iPadOS 18.7 (latest per today)

First only TIFF, but now also happens with PSD

 

4. Which versions of the app you have installed on your device?

 

Latest update as per today (dont have iPad in front of me now)

Yes, I will attempt that.

 

6. Is your Lr catalog very large? How much free cloud storage you have for your account?

 

I have just started using LR so there is basically nothing there YET. AND I am using LR Classic only. I have a 2TB catalog and its impractical to upload all of that to Adobe...I have used about 700MB of my available 1TB Adobe storage.

 

7. Are you working offline or connected to network?

 

Connected to network only, WIFI, Fiber 1Gbps...

 

8. Screenshots or images of before and after editing in Ps.

I will do this.

 

9. Is there any thing specific to your workflow that we should keep in mind ? May be a video of it would help.

 

I havent worked out my LR/PS workflow just YET. I have actually never used LR before in my workflow. Allthough I am quite proficient in PS and I also use Bridge (which is always buggy...sorry, it is, but thats for another day).

So, I will download a tiff file from one of the many many "clouds" (I have so many clouds) and store it locally to my iPad. Then import this to LR on my iPad. This should then be converted to the correct format, no? There is a pop-up window stating its saving to a Photoshop format in any case. Then depending on what types of edits I need, I send it either to PS and then BACK to LR and then export as jpg to the Photos App.

 

Somewhere along the line, something seems to get confused and I can no longer "Send to PS".

 

Just now I also noticed I seem to be having a general problem with the Adobe Cloud. When I use "save as" on PS on my Windows computer, "Save to cloud document" is greyed out. AND there is no option in the pulldown menu to save as PSDC.

 

Perhaps there is some mix up somwhere in the pipeline? I tried uploading some files to the Adobe Cloud via the Windows App, but this didnt upload any of the selected files. I can create folders and move around the few documents that are there. But I now realise I cant save to the Adobe Cloud from any of my aps. I could manually upload a single image at a time. I selected a PSD file and it needed to be converted to a PSDC. The file in question was a single image approx 130MB. It took ages to convert and upload, even if I am on a fiber 1Gbps (symmentrical).

 

Thanks for taking time to let us know about these issues. Once we reproduce these internally, we will work on getting them fixed.

Thanks for providing all the details. I will try to reproduce with the help of all the info you shared.

Regarding no drop down menu shown from the 3 dots, this is a known issue and is already been logged for the engineers to take a look and fix. 

Will get back to you asap once we receive the screen recordings and screen shots from you so we can repro the issue on our end.
