Question

some features not working anymore

I used to use the masking feature “people” search.  It would locate each person/people in a photo and you could edit parts of the person like just hair, just skin, etc.  You could edit each person individually or all at the same time.  I really liked that feature and used it quite often.  For the past 6 months or so, that feature does not work.  There will be a photo with people obviously in it but after it searches for people, it does not find any.  I would love if this feature was fixed so it would work like it used to.  You’ve added new features in the last 6 months but this one that was quite useful remains unworking.  There are some other masking options that have also been doing weird things.

    Hi @Sheri Knauer

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with the People Masking feature in Lightroom. To help us investigate this further, could you please provide the following details?

    1. Which version of Lightroom are you currently using? Is it the latest version 15.6?

    2. Which operating system and version are you using (Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android)?

    3. Does this issue occur with all photos or only specific images?

    4. Are you receiving any error messages when Lightroom attempts to detect people, or does it simply display "No People Found"?

    5. Could you please share a short screen recording demonstrating the issue?

    6. You also mentioned that other masking options are behaving unexpectedly. Could you provide more details about those issues?

    7. System Info from Help > System Info. You can copy and paste the complete report here.

Additionally, please ensure Lightroom is updated to the latest available version and check whether the issue persists after restarting the application.

I would also suggest  trying manually resetting Lightroom preferences after backing up your existing preferences, and let us know if that helps. You can refer to the instructions here: Reset Lightroom preferences.

These details will help us narrow down the cause and investigate further.
