Sony A7RVI Exporting File Issue

  • June 7, 2026

With the new Sony A7RVI, when I go to export raw photos with any mask, it provides the attached error message even though there are no AI edits to update as you can see by the no yellow icon. Seems to be triggered anytime you apply a mask to a file. Have tried multiple file updating AI edits for all files and that does not work either. Have had others with Lightroom desktop try the same workflow and are receiving the same error, so there seems to be some raw file compatibility issue.

I am also experiencing the same issue. Ive upscaled two photos with the Generative upscale feature and I am unable to export them as it gets stuck in the export process and never actually exports. I’ve tried everything you mentioned but nothing is working.
    Please assist.

I am experiencing exactly the same but just after using the new AI-SHARPEN tool . It wouldn't export , I haven't used any of my credits (i have 250 and this tool only consumes 10) so that shouldn't be the reason.

If I export the same picture without the AI-Sharpen everything is fine.

    Please help

    Hi @Jason30170960x8hq, @fsafdssaf,

Thank you both for the additional testing, sample files, screen recordings, and detailed observations.

I was able to reproduce the behavior on my end. Importantly, the exported image itself appears to contain all edits correctly. At the moment, the issue seems to be the warning dialog being shown incorrectly, rather than the export failing or edits being lost.

I’ve reached out to the product team to see whether a bug has already been logged for this behavior. If not, I’ll log one and get it escalated with the information you’ve both provided.

The sample RAW files, reproduction steps, and screen recordings are particularly valuable here, so thank you for taking the time to provide them.

We’ll update the thread once I hear back from the team or if they need any additional information.

    Best,
    Anshul Saini

Same camera, same issue - using Lightroom (not classic).

Even when heading to the toolbar and using Photo > Update AI Settings in X Photo/s it still results in the same error.

This is only on my A7R VI files.

To reproduce this, I simply import *any* A7R VI RAW file, add a “Select Objects” mask and manually selecting my suject, and when exporting I am immediately met with the error.

If I apply no masks, this error is not present.

If I apply a radial mask, no error.

    Brush mask, no error.

I understand A7R VI support is only preliminary, but this issue should be addressed.

    Hi @Jason30170960x8hq,

Thanks for reaching out. This is expected behavior in Lightroom. The warning "Some images were exported with outdated AI settings" appears when one or more of your photos have AI-based edits, such as Denoise, AI Masks (Select Subject, Select Sky, Select People), or Generative Remove, that were modified and now need to be updated. Previously processed images retain the old results until you manually update them.

To resolve this, select the affected photo. Go to Photo > Update AI Settings. Let Lightroom reprocess the AI edits. This may take a moment.

Export again, and the warning should no longer appear for those images.
You can also look for a small yellow badge,  which indicates images with pending AI updates.

If you continue to see the warning after running "Update AI Settings" and it reports that nothing is to be updated, please copy & paste your System Info (Help > System Info) so we can investigate further.

Let me know if this helps!

Hi Anshul. Thank you for attempting to help me. Unfortunately, there are no AI edits in need of updating as indicated normally by the yellow button and the above suggestion does not work. I have tried that before.  The issue is that Lightroom seems to think there are AI edits needing updated, but there are none that I can update. Thank you for your help!

Hey, @Jason30170960x8hq. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share a video showing your develop operation with a image & the system info from Lightroom Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here. I couldn't find the attached sample image.

Does this happen with a specific set of images?  Were these images imported into Lightroom on the same device or via another surface with Lightroom?

Check if export works with Lightroom Web (https://adobe.ly/4exBz9y)

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!

    @Sameer K

Hi Sameer. Thank you for reaching out to assist. I am attaching the screen recording to this message. Please let me know if you are not able to review it.

This happens with all images coming out of the Sony A7RVI in raw format. I don’t have this issue with my other Sony and Nikon raw files when doing the same workflow. Basically, as soon as I add a mask, this error happens below. Cletus tested it on his computer also and got the same error as you will see in this message thread.

I apologize, I don’t fully understand were these images imported into Lightroom on the same device or via another surface with Lightroom? Can you please explain? I did try the export with Lightroom Web and did not get an error when exporting. It is limited to regular Lightroom on Desktop Mac OS.

Appreciate your assistance very much! Thank you.

I tied the OPs ARW file on my Lightroom Desktop and got the following:
If I export with no update I get the warning message that you question.

Since in converting to RAW Lightroom has applied a subject mask, The message is normal and to be expected. What is not expected is what happened next. I updated the AI edits and proceeded to export. When I did the following message appeared:

    1780833784170.png

Nothing I did after that would let me delete the Vibrant mask. For if I did, Lightroom automatically recreated it.
I opened one of my NEFs for edit and found the same Vibrant subject mask and noticed that it needed updating. After updating it exported normally.  So the issue seems related to this Sony Camera model and no other or  any of my NEFs.

If I imported the same file into Classic, it arrived with no Vibrant AI mask and of course no AI edit reminder. It exports without issue. I’m thinking the problem is the automatically applied subject mask preset called Vibrant

I recently started getting this error below even though there are no AI settings to update on my files (have tried all the ways to update them). The files are coming from the new Sony A7RVI in any of the raw formats, it doesn’t matter which one I do. Once I add a mask to the image, the error message below will occur when the completed edited file is exported from Lightroom. I have tried tech support several times and they tell me it doesn’t matter, as the file is being updated, but I don’t want the continual error message. This doesn’t happen with my other Sony or Nikon cameras. It also  happens on my wife’s computer also, so I don’t think it is computer specific. How do I fix it? I would be most grateful. Thank you.
