Sorting photo displays in Lightroom

I'm trying to sort my photos so I can view them by capture date, in chronological order, following extensive date changes to reflect the time when an old digitized photo was actually taken.  When I display the grid for a folder, the pictures are sorted chronologically by the new dates I assigned.  This does not happen when I view the contents of an album within the folder -- instead the photos are displayed randomly.  I have tried re-starting the program but this does not correct the issue.  Lightroom Classic has an easy sort feature, but I haven't found a comparable feature in Lightroom.  Am I missing an easy solution?
