Space problem with large files in the Cloud

I have standard setup - Photoshop Lightroom (the cloud one) and Photoshop. I am on the Photoshop Plan and have 1 Tb. It isn't all that cheap.

The problem is I like to work a lot in the Nik Collection in Photoshop. But after I have applied a couple of filters here I end up with a tiff of e.g. 670 Mb.  (The orginal raw file is about 20 Mb). But I can see that it is only going to take about 1300 images like this to need to buy more space. At 150 images per trip (travel photography) that isn't going to take long. If I move up to the next level - 3Tb - it begins to be a serious amount of money (for a hobby). 

My current solution is to save the tiff to a removable drive and also save a high quality jpeg. And then manually import the jpeg into Lightroom. (And then put it in a stack with the orginal raw file).  This way I keep my edits in my library (and in the cloud) - at a cost of just 20Mb. (In theory if I ever needed to edit the tiff I have it on the removable drive).

I am just wondering if anyone else has a system for solving this problem? How do other people do it?
