Question

subject recognition not working anymore in LR 8.2

For a few days now, the subject recognition in Lightroom has no longer worked. Most of the time, no motive is recognized at all or sometimes something completely wrong.
In addition, something hangs in the synchronization - possibly a connection ?
I have already reinstalled Lightroom - no change.

It works without any problems in Camera raw

Any ideas what I could try next ?

Hey, @elmu68. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Please share the system info from Lightroom Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

Has this started to happen since a recent update for Lightroom, or Windows?

Test some variables like:

  • Unplug any external peripherals & use wired input devices.
  • Try with a different set of images.
  • Also, check for updates for the GPU on your machine. More steps here: https://adobe.ly/4kvhJwA

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

@Sameer K

thanks for your reply

unplugged all devices including wireless mouse - same problem

i've already tried with images where I used this function before without any problems

GPU-driver is latest revision

tried subject recognition on camera raw - there it is working without any problem

I dont know when the problem has started. It was working 2 or 3 weeks ago.

still there is this synchronising issue (ive already tried differnt things mentioned in the help)

Thanks for sharing the System info. Your machine has two GPUs: the power-saving Intel Xe Graphics and the high-performance Nvidia RTX 3050.

Please try these two suggestions:
1 - Update the graphics drivers using Intel's, as Nvidia's auto-detect program.

2 - Follow step 6 in the content here to configure the default GPU for Lightroom: https://adobe.ly/49YQSCI

After you update the GPU drivers, try the steps below and check how it goes. The GPU info & Logs location on Windows is %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw. A shortcut to get to this folder on Windows is:

  • Press the Windows + R
  • Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw

  • Rename the GPU & Logs folder in this directory by adding .old at the end. (GPU.old & Logs.old)
  • Launch Lightroom again.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
