Hi , i am very new to this ...i just subscribed to the photography plan and was so excited to start learning so i went to Youtube to watch some videos. I noticed my Lightroom didn't look or have the same options as their Lightroom so i checked my version and i have 4.1 from 2012???. Why did i get such an older version, i thought i was subscribing to the latest. Do i get the same options/benefits ?. This is frustrating. TIA.

It is not 'old'. It is the  December 2020 version.  (20)20 / 12

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.4.1, Photoshop 27.8, ACR 18.4, Lightroom 9.4, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.3 .

Hello Anay, welcome to the world of Lightroom!

As part of your photography plan, you have access to TWO versions of Lightroom:

  • Lightroom Classic - the "desktop only" version that has been around for many years
  • Lightroom - the "desktop/web/mobile" version that is relatively new

The main difference between the two is that the "Classic" version maintains all your original images locally in a catalog on your hard drive, while the newer version maintains all originals in the Adobe Cloud. Here's a page that shows the differences in more detail:

https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom-classic/lightroom-cc-vs-lightroom-classic.html

Lightroom Classic is currently at version 10.1, while Lightroom is at version 4.1. I hope that helps!
