suddenly not recognizing people or backgrounds

Question

6 months of usage and I have always been amazing at how it recognizes people (even groups of people in sports teams) and can separate backgrounds and subjects.   Suddenly it will not recognize anything?   Please help. Version 8.2 x 64 updated Feb 1, 2025.  This is an example of a picture that it won't recognize the wrestler or ref.   I went back to images I was able to use masks on previously and they won't work either.  UGH

Hey, @Ned25478869saax. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Lightroom from Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Does this happen with images in the Local view or the imported images? Have you recently updated Lightroom or the Windows OS? Masking is integrally connected to your machine's GPU. Check if any updates are available for it & follow these steps to troubleshoot the GPU: https://adobe.ly/41DqBc6

Temporarily, try using Lightroom Web (https://adobe.ly/40Dz11t) and check if masking works as expected. Some other features won't be available on Lightroom Web.
