Question

Switch from MacBook to iPad

Hi all,

I have a question and I cannot find a definitive answer on the web.

I use Lightroom (not Classic) on my MacBook and I want to switch entirely to working on an iPad (so deactivate my MacBook and sell it).

Two questions:

1. Will this work or do I need to have a active MacBook in my subscription?

2. Should I switch to iPad (only)? And why or why not? What are the positives and negatives?

Hopefully you can help me with this question.

Jasper

What makes this work is that Lightroom isn’t tied to any of your devices, really. Because all the photos are in the cloud, it doesn’t matter if you stop using any devices, any of your other Lightroom-compatible devices can still edit the photos. The only downside is that a few features aren’t yet on the iPad, but they might be added to the iPad later.

There are some people who use Lightroom with just an iPhone.

You don't need an active MacBook in your subscription. Using only an iPad can work, depending on your needs. Some things are not available in Lightroom for iPad, such as merge to panorama and merge to hdr, for example. AI Denoise is also not available. If you can live with some limitations, then give it a try.
