Sync from Lightroom to LrC reverted/deleted all my edits on an image!

I spent a lot of time editing an image in Lightroom (Mac v8.4).  Global edits and masking.  I made sure it synced to the cloud.  I came back a few days later to make some adjustments.  Again made sure it synced.  I published it to the community.  Then, I closed Lightroom, and opened Lightroom Classic so it could sync there and then publish it to Flickr (yes, I still use that).  Lightroom Classic (v14.4) removed all my edits and masks, then synced that back to Lightroom.  Now my edits are all gone!  Is there a way to recover this?  The image in the Community still shows as the edited version.  Sure, I could re-create the edits based off that, but re-doing the masks is going to be a pain.  Why is syncing so broken?!?

When you get a moment, could you check the Versions panel to see if your edits are still listed there? That might help us figure out what’s going on.
