Sync issues

I imported wedding photos over a month ago and was editing them... a couple weeks later, over half of them were gone.  I then learned about "sync issues" and discovered they got moved to that area and I don't have the photos to reimport anymore because I assumed they'd go into the cloud since I pay for extra storage and they'd eventually sync properly. I've never had this issue until now. Is there any hope for retrieving these images? there's over 7k photos of mine in "sync issues" and I don't understand why. Cause I sure didn't put them there.

Is it not possible to open the app where you imported the image, and let sync finish?  For example, that screen image you shared mentions iPad as your import device.  If you launch LR on iPad, and tap the cloud button, do you see that images are still uploading?

 

To help sync complete, the Lightroom app on iPad or iPhone will keep the device awake while plugged into a power source.  Please keep the LR app running until sync completes.  The LR iOS app cannot sync unless the app is running.
