Syncing Photos

Syncing photos and clearing all ones to make space has been a NIGHTMARE recently. It keeps clearing the cached data and syncing again and again from the cloud that takes ages, to just do it again after a restart.  I have never been so frustrated with Lightroom in my 4 years of experience

Hi @Sotiris_Tofinis8812,

Thank you for reaching out. I completely understand how frustrating repeated syncing and cache clearing can feel, especially when you’re trying to free up space and keep your workflow efficient. Lightroom uses a local cache to store your cloud photos, which temporarily allows faster access. When the cache is cleared, Lightroom has to redownload previews, which can explain why you’re seeing this repeat after a restart.

A few points that may help improve the situation:
 • On Windows, you can manage disk space more effectively by adjusting where Lightroom stores originals and by setting limits on local cache size. Please see: https://adobe.ly/4mFMTS2
 • To safely clear space, use Lightroom’s built-in options under Preferences > Local Storage instead of manually deleting cached files outside the app. That helps avoid repeated re-syncing.
 • Make sure you’re using the latest Lightroom version.

If you’re still seeing Lightroom redownload everything after each restart, even with these settings, please copy & paste system info from the help menu.
