"These photos were not added" and "Unable to create directory" Errors

Hey all,

I've been having an issue with Lightroom (CC) where I'm unable to import anything from an SD card.

If I go my normal route (add photos>connected devices>choose my SD card) the import progress bar moves very quickly and I get an error saying that "These photos were not imported".

I also tried add photos>browse>choose the photos from the Finder window that pops up which gives me a different error: "Unable to create directory. You don't have permission to save the file X".

I've made sure that Lightroom has acsess to files, folders, and removeable volumes which it does. I also tried giving it full disk acsess with no luck.

I've been using the same camera, same SD cards, and same computer that I've always run Lightroom on and have never had issues with importing before.

I'm on MacOS 12.1 running Lightroom 5.1

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply,

I actually found the solution in another post that showed up in "related conversations" right after I posted my question. The wording is exactly what I was searching so I'm not sure why it didn't come up when I was Googling this before I posted.

Anyway, the user recomended going to preferences>local storage>reset

It took awhile to do but I was able to import normally again after it had finished!

To answer your questions in case anyone else is having this issue:

It started before updasting to 12.1

I'm using an external reader

It's the same with all SD cards

Yes, I have copied images to my local drive and moved them to Lightroom sucessfully and how I've been working around this issue

Yes, I had restarted Lightroom (and my computer) multiple times

Did you just update to 12.1? What are you using to read the cards? Internal port or usb card reader?  Is it one SD card or any/all SD cards? Have you tested copying one image to your local drive and trying to import from there? Do you sleep your computer? Has it / Lightroom been restarted since the problem started?
