Question

Thumbnails not visible in latest Lightroom across iPad, iPhone and Windows desktop

Version 9.5.1

iPad Pro M1, iPad OS 18/18.1 but also iPhone 12 Pro Max and desktop on Windows 11

Thumbnails are not generated in Galery (screenshot attached)

I tried reinstall, cache deletion, nothing helped. It's not happening for newly imported photos, only older ones

I suddenly have the same problem. It is with raw files that I originally imported on the IPAD and later once they were uploaded only have the smart preview locally cached. Clearing cache etc doesn't help. It looks it just stopped generating preview. I can open the photo though so its still there and syncged to my Lightroom Classic.

Hi @marcov12799540, welcome to the Lightroom Ecosystem forum! To better assist you with this issue, we need a few more details. Can you please share a screenshot of what you're seeing? Can you also share your system info? You can find this by going to Help > System Info, copying and pasting into a text file, and attaching it here.

In the meantime, you can try troubleshooting the issue with these possible solutions:

1. Check Sync Status: Verify that the images are fully uploaded and synced to the Adobe Cloud. The customer can check this by visiting https://adobe.ly/4lI4sS4 and ensuring that the images are visible and properly synced

2. Rebuild Previews: In Lightroom Classic, the customer can try rebuilding the previews. To do this, select the images and choose Library > Previews > Build Standard-Sized Previews.

3. Clear Cache: Although the customer has already tried clearing the cache, it might be worth doing it again after logging out and logging back in.

4. Check Smart Previews: Ensure that the smart previews are correctly generated and synced. Sometimes, issues with smart previews can cause thumbnails not to display properly.

If these steps don't fix the issue, I recommend starting a new post with the information requested above. Hope this helps! ^CH

This shows the system info and missing thumbnails.
Note these pictures where imported into lightroom on the IPAD as full raws
and the thumbnails showed. Now the raws have been uploaded to the cloud and
the smart previous remains, some thumbnails are gone. Sometimes when
scrolling through the thumbnails a missing one suddenly pops up.

@rade.tomovic is the problem that edits in Windows 11 doesn't reach your iPad or iPhone?
If you make edits in either direction, can you please check in https://lightroom.adobe.com if the images are uploaded?

Thanks,
Ignacio

On my iPad, I can’t see my preview. I only get black squares. When I click on a black square, I can see the photo.” Help?
