Transfer Went Wrong: Edits in .xmp format didn't merge

Question

My corporation decided to move all active Adobe accounts under one overall licensing agreement, but didn't warn anybody. During the transfer, all of my Lightroom images disappeared. Got them back through customer support, but none of the existing edits were there. About 3,000 of them. I did, however, get a folder with a ton of .xmp files that couldn't be uploaded. I'm assuming that's the edit data? If so, how/can I merge those into the raw files that are now back in Lightroom? I also can't import any new photos into Lightroom. The whole situation is $#@$#@ and I'm lost, customer support no help. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

I am not sure what you are asking is possible in the conventional sense.

XMP files need to be stored side by side with the original raw file. If they are when they are imported, Lightroom should recognize and pair them together.

As a test, try this:

Locate one of your original files from those supplied by support.
Locate the .xmp file with the same name.
Put them together in a folder.
Import that raw file

Does the file come in with edits?

If so, repeat for the remainder of the photos.
