Transitioning from Lightroom CC to LrC
I have about 350GB of photos stored as originals in Adobe cloud as I first started editing using LRCC (now just called Lightroom). Given that I plan on taking more photos and taking up more space, I'm switching my workflow over to LrC for local storage benefits and cost savings. I've already synced all the photos into LrC from Lightroom and all of my albums/collections are showing correctly and the originals are stored on my HDD and show up correctly in my LrC Library under Folders.
However, when I delete the photo from Lightroom CC, it then removes the photo from the collection in LrC. Even if I move the image in LrC to a new collection that isn't synced to the cloud, delete the photo in LrCC, then turn on sync for that new collection in LrC, the photo is removed from that collection.
Luckily, it seems that all of the metadata and edit data is still stored in the catalog and that the photo doesn't disappear or get deleted from Folders/the HDD. The only solution I've been able to come up with is the following:
1. Delete the original files from LRCC after confirming I have them stored locally through LrC (and have backups)
2. Go to LrC Folder, find the photos that I deleted from LrCC and add them to a new collection in LrC
3. Confirm that collection syncs as an album in LrCC with just smart previews and that all edits are showing still
In writing this out, it doesn't seem that complicated, but step 2 is going to be grueling. Are there any better methods of going about this or is it just a process I'm going to have to suffer through once?
