Trying to edit photo, but instead comparing to original version

I've recently installed Lightroom via Android App on my Chromebook. In trying to use it, I find it incredible difficult to take any editing actions in the photo without Lightroom instead thinking I want to compare with the original unedited photo.

e.g. creating a linear gradient. It is so hard to convince Lightroom to add the gradient into the image. It just wants to keep showing me the original image instead.

Is there a trick?

Before/After is invoked by a long press. If you are trying to draw a Gradient you tap and slide immediately. If you linger too long without sliding, you will get before and after.

You might try drawing the gradient first without taking too much time and then adjusting it afterwards if it is positioned sloppily.

Thanks Rikk. That makes sense -- create the gradient first, then adjust
later. Can I give a 2nd example of how I have trouble?

I should add that I'm using the trackpad rather than touching the screen
directly, if that matters.

When doing simple changes with a slider, e.g. "exposure", "shadows", I
can't just drag the slider using a click and sliding. It just doesn't
activate. I need to click first on the slider and let go. This makes the
slider jump, as expected. Then the next time I can move the slider by
clicking and dragging.

I expect that the Android app was not expecting to be used on a Chromebook
with a trackpad or mouse, so perhaps I'm just outside of its intended usage.
