Unable to initialize Camera Raw

My Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3060.

My PC OS is Windows 11.

I installed Adobe Lightroom via Adobe Creative Cloud. After the installation was finished, I tried to open the program, but an error window popped up saying: "Unable to initialize Camera Raw {"errorcode":7,"message":"an unexpected exception occurred"}".

How can I fix it?

Hi @Kevin_kevin02240,

Thanks for confirming and for sharing the screenshots, that helps clarify the situation. Please try the steps below:

Try installing the Windows Media Feature Pack that is missing from Windows N or KN editions.

If the above step didn't work, try resetting Lightroom preferences:
 • Close Lightroom and Creative Cloud
 • Relaunch Lightroom while holding Shift + Alt
 • Confirm the reset when prompted

If Lightroom doesn't open at all after a reset, then let's try a clean reinstall of Lightroom (check on Lr Web first and see if all your images are there before proceeding with this)
 • Use Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool
 • Select Lightroom and Camera Raw
 • Restart your system
 • Reinstall Lightroom fresh from Creative Cloud

Let us know how it goes.

Hi @Anshul_Saini @Noel Orridge ,

Thanks to both of you for the suggestions!
I think I've found the root cause: the installation path for Lightroom contained non-English characters, which likely prevented the program from opening correctly.

I’m now able to open Lightroom and edit my photos without any issues.

Hi @Kevin_kevin02240! Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the community! I'm sorry to hear about your trouble with Lightroom. I'll help you with this!

Try out these steps and see if they work:

1) Close Lightroom and the Creative Cloud desktop app completely.

2) Open Explorer and go to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats

3) Find the Camera Raw .8BI file and delete it.

4) Visit the Adobe Camera Raw installer page: Camera Raw plug-in installer

5) Download the Camera Raw installer for Windows.

6) Run the .exe file and follow the prompts.

7) Restart your computer and try relaunching Lightroom.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your advice. However, I have attempted your suggested solution twice and the error persists. I have attached two screenshots of the error message for your reference.

@Noel Orridge I've tried your method twice already, but it still didn't work.
