Upgrading for Lightroom 3 to Lightroom CC

Question

Hello, I already have Lightroom 3 on my computer and am now to download LR cc from the Creative Cloud. My question is if I dowload CC will it merge with my existing LR 3 or will I have to uninstall LR 3??

It will not be necessary to uninstall Lightroom 3. However, Lightroom CC will not be able to migrate the catalog. Lightroom CC is only capable of migrating catalogs created by Lightroom Classic CC, which is the current version and is only available by subscription. You could install the trial version of Lightroom Classic CC long enough to allow it to convert your catalog to the new format that would be compatible with Lightroom CC, but that new catalog wouldn't be compatible with Lightroom 3. The original catalog, however, would remain. So Lightroom 3 would still function on its own.
