Upgrading from Lightroom 6

I've used Lightroom 6 for many years, running on my laptop hard drive.  My photos are stored on an external hard drive.  I recently signed up for the CC version of Lightroom, currently 7.4.1.  I can't figure out how  to export (or migrate or whatever) my photos and my catalog.  The Migrate command only migrates from Lightroom Classic, which I didn't know existed.  Should I switch my plan to Classic? Or download a free trial to export my photos and my catalog and then migrate them again?  I'm pretty computer savvy, but this is confusing me.

Thanks!

Lightroom Classic is the latest version of what used to be called just 'Lightroom' and Lightroom 6 is indeed the predecessor of Lightroom Classic. So yes, it makes far more sense for you to get Lightroom Classic, not Lightroom.
