Using on multiple computers?

So I switched to lightroom cc a little while ago and have been editing my photos off an external SSD on my MacBook. But now I went to plug it into my desktop expecting to have all my photos on it and all my edits. I was surprised to see they weren't. the RAW originals were stored on the SSD but all my edits arent. Can you use multiple computers to edit photos without using the cloud and just locally on lightroom cc.

By this I mean chucking my photos from the sd card onto my SSD then editing off that on my MacBook, then unplugging that and putting it on my desktop, and finishing the edit I started on my Macbook?

You need to tell us which version of Lightroom you are talking about. There is no longer an app called "Lightroom CC" (the "CC" was dropped from the entire Adobe range of products several years ago), there is now Lightroom Classic (images stored locally) or Lightroom (images stored in the cloud). So which version are you referring to, and can we also have the version number (do Help>System Info to see the version number)?
