virtual copy

coming from LR6: after creating a virtual copy LR6 immediatedly selected this new copy and I could start working on it. The new LR (desktop) I`ve downloaded lacks this automatic selection. Does anybody know how to solve this ?

Lightroom desktop does not support virtual copies, only Lightroom Classic (the successor of your old Lightroom 6) does. Lightroom desktop has a feature called 'versions' however, which is close to a virtual copy.
