I don't like that the new Lightroom requires Windows 10. I'm a gamer and I won't update to Windows 10 because it still has too many issues when it comes to gaming. Also, for a hobbyist who only develops photographs a few times a year for fun, $9.99 a month is too much.

There seems no easy way to complain to adobe about these things, so I'm posting here in hope they see it and change their ways. ^_^

ANYWHERE? REALLY?

WRONG.

Not if you're hanging onto Windows 7 because it works Better!!! *sigh*

My computer's only super powerful.. Way more powerful than a phone. But this "Anywhere" software can't even work on it because I don't Want Windows 10. 😕😕

The "new" Lightroom should really be considered an alternative Lightroom because the "old" Lightroom is still being developed and updated and is alive and well but is now known as Lightroom Classic CC. Or, if you are dead set against the subscription model then you can still purchase Lightroom 6 and install the 6.14 update. After that, there will be no more updates or upgrades available to you. Lightroom Classic CC continues in the Lightroom tradition that has been known for the last decade or so, and has all the features that users have become accustomed to. Lightroom CC is for a different user who is on the go and who wants their images available immediately on any device, right now. It is an excellent program for that type of user. If you are a subscriber to the Creative Cloud photography plan you have access to both versions and can explore them to decide which one best suits your needs. Lightroom CC should not be considered as the latest or newest and therefore the best version of Lightroom.

Well... Microsoft will stop Windows 7 support in less than two years time (Jan 2020).

And if you are a hobbyist, and $10 per month is too much to shell out, then consider free and open source applications instead.

Rawtherapee is supported on Windows 7 - free and open source. So is Krita. PhotoLine also works on Windows 7, and is very inexpensive (full license, no renting!). Or even Gimp.

More than enough for the hobbyist with empty pockets.
