What to do? [How to switch from Aperture to Lightroom?]

I am a long-time Aperture user and MUST switch to LightRoom.  I have hundreds of thousands of pictures that I need to move to another program.

I am soooooo confused about Lightroom classic and Lightroom CC.  I understand that classic is more robust.  But, with classic must I always use the SAME computer to work on my pictures?  I have a 27 inch iMac that I do most of my work on.  But, when I am in the field, I use my MacBook Pro.  With Aperture, I just plugged in my external hard drive to either and went to work.  But, I guess I don't understand the workflow well enough to know how to do that with classic.  Can someone help?

    Don't stress, it's all ok.  Since Lightroom Classic is the only one of the tools with an Aperture library import tool right now, Classic is the right place for you to start, even if you eventually move to CC. Like you did when you worked with Aperture, you can store the Lightroom Classic catalog and photos on an external drive and use them on either of your computers. It just doesn't sync via the cloud, whereas the new baby CC app does.
