When uploading a large number of edited DNG files, some edits don't sync

On Lr 9.0 for Mac I have found that when I upload a large number of edited DNG files to the cloud, the edits of the last few do not get sync'd properly, even though the file itself is uploaded.

 

For instance I recently uploaded 100 edited DNG files - the first 88 were fine - the final 12 were uploaded but the edits weren't.

Hi @dschamis, thanks for reaching out! Let's try a few things to see what may be causing this issue.
1. Select the affected photos and make a minor edit, then undo to force a new sync.

2. Go to Preferences > Local Storage > Clear Cache, quit Lightroom, and relaunch.

3. Pause sync for 30 seconds, resume, and if needed, sign out and back in.

4. Retry with smaller batches (30–50 photos) to check if batch size is the cause.

Batch size is def the cause - its has now occured on different computers both running the latest version of Lr on Mac.

 

It occured with a 100 photo upload and with a 272 file upload.  When you break them up and do it in smaller batches the problem doesn't occur.

Thanks for the detailed explanation and for confirming that batch size seems to trigger the issue. To help us investigate this further, could you please share a few more details:

Details needed

  • Approximate file size of the DNGs

  • How the files are being uploaded:

    • Drag-and-drop into Lightroom

    • Add Photos → Files

 

A few suggestions that might help. 

  • Update to the latest Lightroom version (9.1)

  • After starting a large upload, keep Lightroom open and in the foreground, and avoid putting the system to sleep until syncing completes.

  • Check the Sync Status (cloud icon) to see if any errors are reported while the last files are uploading.

  • Go to Lightroom Web and see if all the images are synced or if it is showing any errors.
  • You can also try emptying the Deleted folder from the Lightroom web and Desktop and see if that helps.
