Why call it a cloud service if it is not saving the original files??

Today I wanted to backup my photos from Lightroom CC so I selected all photos and saved them as "originals+setting".

After Lightroom CC was finished saving all photos I got this message:

"Some images could not be exported at the size you requested because we couldn't access the full size original.".

This covered about 50% of my photos!!

And yes all my devices synced their local contend.

This is not what I would expect from a payed service!

I guess that's what happens when we assume too many things. If Lightroom Classic CC did that then we wouldn't need Lightroom CC. Smart previews has been a fundamental sharing feature of Lightroom Classic CC from the beginning. Full-sized images in the cloud has been a fundamental feature of Lightroom CC from its inception. I suppose it's unfortunate that you have misunderstood that concept. I hope we have been able to clarify it sufficiently for you.

It is not my misunderstanding that it is advertised in the WRONG words!

But hey, I'm the user so my apologies the advertiser is always right!

Have a nice day!

How did you get the images into Lightroom CC? If you synched them from Lightroom Classic, then this is to be expected. Lightroom Classic only syncs smart previews to the cloud, so Lightroom CC can't download the originals in that case.

Hello Johan!

Indeed most of the photos are synched from Classic some aren't.

But why is Classic not synching the originals? This would mean I can only export those photos on the device I added them!

So the synching would be useless for me.

Because that is the way Lightroom CC works. Lightroom Classic CC can only synchronize smart previews. If you want full-size images in the cloud then they must be imported directly to Lightroom CC. That can be done on the computer if you have Lightroom CC installed on the computer. But that is the way the system is designed and unless that design is changed at some point in the future that is the way it will continue to be. I don't have any connection with Adobe, don't have any insight into design plans. But Lightroom Classic CC is a desktop-centric application, and will continue to be. So I wouldn't expect any workflow changes such as you might be anticipating.

The one bonus (if you want to call it that) to the way Lightroom Classic CC works is that the smart previews do not count against your Creative Cloud storage allotment. I don't know if that might be a consideration for you.
