A couple of months ago I was amazed at how well Lightroom was detecting faces. The last couple of months it is very poor. Something has changed. It now doesn’t detect very straight forward identifications with a single person in. There was a sudden and drastic change. Something changed in the program and it needs to be fixed.

You don’t mention your computer hardware, but if it is Windows, then the answer is most likely as follows. Every update of Lightroom is more demanding where it comes to GPU drivers. An outdated driver that worked fine with the previous version of Lightroom (because it was current when that version was introduced), may break the masking in the updated Lightroom version. That is not something Adobe needs to fix, it means a Windows user needs to regularly check for GPU driver updates, because Windows apparently does not do that properly.

For Mac users GPU driver updates are done by MacOS, but there are some specific older GPUs on Intel Macs that have problems. Your computer is end of line, so perhaps you need to stay away from Lightroom updates if you don’t want to replace it.

Same here. People are detected with MacBook Air M1 but not with iMac 2020 (AMD GPU with 8Gb). Updated all system to the latest. Remedy from Chat GPT did not help.

I’m having the same issue.  Using Lightroom Classic 15.2.  Running on an iMac.  Processor = 3.6 GHz 10-Core Intel Core i9.  MacOS = Tahoe 26.3.1.  Pictures with an obvious person and LRC says, “No People Detected.”

I have the same issue. I am using Lightroom Classic 15.2 on a iMac 5k 2020. For a few weeks when i try to use mask with people, the loading circle spins for 2-3 seconds and then “no people detected”

When I go to the Masks options and click on people it is not finding the person for some odd reason. Even on old pictures where I already have a mask on of a person it is not allowing me to add a layer Mask of the person to edit something different on them. Why is that ?

You need to give us more information. Your hardware, your OS, version numbers. A failure to detect people is (on Windows computers) often caused by outdated GPU drivers.

We need more info. Which MacBook Air, which version of MacOS does it run, which version of Lightroom Classic. And no ‘latest version’ answers, please. We need version numbers.
