Question

Why oh why? (Lightroom vs Lightroom Classic Differences)

I'm already thinking about ditching Lightroom in favor of something - anything! - that is uniquely named. I am so tired of wading through Google posts, YouTubes, online classes, even on here - and not understanding which version of Lightroom they are refering to. Why oh why would they make two different products with basically the same darn name?!

Hi there,

I can understand that it can be confusing learning about two versions of Lightroom, however, there is a simple difference between both. Lightroom Classic is a desktop based version and it is optimized for desktop-focused workflows, including local storage of your photos in files and folders on your computer. The interface, photo import and organization functionality, and editing feature set are much the same as before. We are continuing to invest in Lightroom Classic.

Lightroom is the new cloud-based photo service that works across desktop, mobile, and web. Lightroom Classic is the desktop-focused digital photography product.

You can read more about the differences here: https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom-classic/lightroom-cc-vs-lightroom-classic.html
