Zoom Tool Activates When I Hit K for Mask Brush

After using Lightroom for an hour or so, when I hit K to activate a mask brush, the magnifying glass for zoom is activated instead. Once I click once, it zooms in--and then activates the mask brush. It is one of those things which makes one want to pull their hair out.

Upon careful observation, I noticed that when I am hitting K to bring up the mask brush, Lightroom activated the Rotate field in the Transform panel (but the Zoom tool is still the active pointer).

If I hit Enter once, it goes away and then I can carry on with my editing.
