I added a root bone to the paladin mixamo model using the Mixamo Converter addon from here:

https://github.com/enziop/mixamo_converter

I upload the modified character to apply the animations to the model with a root bone. But the animations are tilted downward slightly.

The same animations on the unmodified model look like this:

How do you get the animations to work properly with a root bone? Is it something as simply as rotating the root bone or did something get completely messed up when adding the root bone?

Ok I figured out the problem after trying a whole slew of different potential solutions and searches. Finally found the solution from this article:

Using a blender version thats too new with that particular plugin will cause the models and animations to be messed up. I used the 2.8.3 LTS version to do my conversions and finally got mixamo models and animations to work with root motion.
