Clarification on Sharing UE5 Projects with Re-Rigged Mixamo Characters on Patreon

I plan to provide a service where users send me their downloaded Mixamo characters, and I return a rigged version compatible with Unreal Engine 5. The rigging process involves adapting the Mixamo character to the UE5 skeleton, ensuring compatibility for animation purposes.

Questions:

1. Redistribution of Modified Assets: Is it permissible to return the rigged character files to users, given that the base Mixamo character was provided by them?

2. Commercial Use: If the rigged assets are returned to users for their personal use, does this scenario align with Mixamo's terms regarding redistribution and commercial use?

I aim to comply with Mixamo's licensing terms and would appreciate any insights or guidance on this matter.

Thank you for your assistance.

imo Discord is a MUCH better option for you to use with two reasons;

1 their bot code is more upto date/ easy to use

2 their terms allow the @owner [in this case Adobe] to ask for removal of any content felt to be in violation so worse case senario leaves you out of it because you took 'reasonable' steps

1 it doesn't matter who provided the model because the asset still belongs to Mixamo ... there fore it now belongs to Adobe

2 so step 1 changes nothing

personally i wouldn't 'return' the asset by posting them to an online website unless you have put something in place to ensure 'who' can download it from there... something like Google cloud, dropbox or even Adobe cloud can take a password

hi @Ussnorway7605025  thank you so much for responding on the post

I'm not posting the assets on any public website. The idea is that users upload their Mixamo characters through the site, and the service returns a rigged FBX (ue5 skeleton) compatible with Unreal Engine 5 - similar to how Terribilis Studio’s Mixamo Converter works for animations. Would this approach be acceptable under Mixamo's licensing terms?

Alternatively, I’m considering handling everything through Discord. Users could DM their Mixamo character to a bot, and once the rigged version is ready, the bot would send it back to them. This is a one-to-one service—I'm not redistributing anything publicly, just returning a modified version directly to the original user who downloaded the model from mixamo first.
