Clothing does not separate in certain area. It appears like one solid object.

In the following model I have my character with shorts.

However when I import my character and rig him in Mixamo the shorts appear like a "skirt" it doesn't separate in between like shorts should.  Any idea what I need to set or what I'm doing wrong?

you need a gap when you model it or Mixamo sees the two legs as one copied twice
