Hi, I want to make a dataset with the help of the mixamo character and animation for my research at the university, is this legal ?

It depends on the usage.  If you are downloading animation and using it internal to your university, it is okay.  If you want to publish the data set, it is against the terms of use.

 

When you download the content you are agreeing to terms to use it in a specific project or use case.  Any redistribution of the assets is against the terms of use, because then people can get the content without agreeing to those same Adobe terms of use.
