Action History States

Hello, with today's new update, there have been some changes in the version (26.7 m.3051) action panel and its usage. With its new form, two options are offered, classic mode and new mode, but when any action consisting of several steps is run, it creates a single history status in the history panel and the remaining steps in the action are not displayed in the history panel. Is there a setting for this?

Hi @insider77 ,

Thanks for checking in. As you've noticed there's a new way that history states are managed with the new panel updates.

You can adjust the history behavior in the Classic Actions panel Flyout menu > Playback options > Single History State .

That doesn’t seem to answer the question of the History-Action tab - or the ‘Show Action Steps In History’ so we can toggle on and off the steps to view versions of what we want to keep. Yes, Classic Actions opens the steps… but in earlier versions, AFTER a particular action is run, you could go back to the History Tab (or action tab) and select from within that action any of the varying states/steps to view it, not just the wording, but the actual changed state AT THAT STEP. Now, all it does is flatten the action. You can view the ‘wording’ of the step, ‘watch’ each step (set in action tab)’, but you can’t ‘select’ that step. In older versions, I could see all the action steps and toggle off the one’s I didn’t like and save from there. Does that exist or was that taken away? Thank you very much for your help?

My fault!!  I didn’t see your vid posted below. SORRY!  Any who need the same, the entire vid tut on new the Actions Panel is wonderful, but the specific portion of the History state can be found at roughly the 18:40 mark-ish.

Thank u Adobe!

Jesus Rameriz demo'd that workaround in he his most recent video.

And Colin Smith gave you a shout out in his Photoshop Cafe upload today.  I must admit that put a smile on my face as I feel like we kind of know you from these forums.  I will definitely say hello if I ever get to another MAX, but it's a long way from NZ, and I already travel a lot.
