Tried Beta But No Go

I found a video tutorial on Beta and decided to try it on Windows 10. The very first filter I tried to find (Live Gaussian) was missing. So figured this was nowhere ready so I uninstalled it. The problem I am having now is in 2023 PS, I normally do all my editing of course in psd 16x20 inch format. Once finished an artwork, I delete all layers except for final stamped layer, reduce to 1200 px in longest direction to save as jpg, undo size change and undelete all layers to save again so file is intact. These 1200 px files are normally only about 300 kb in size. The one I just put through this daily procedure was almost 6 mb! I shut down PS and rebooted my computer....no change. What do I need to do??

Hi

It sounds like your question is not about Photoshop (beta), but about Photoshop after you uninstalled the beta. Is that correct?

Please confirm that your question is about Photoshop, not the beta, and we can move your post.

Hi Jane......the post concerned both Beta and PS since it seemed this issue only transpired after loading and uninstalling beta. I haven't been exceptionally motivated to do much artwork lately, but I did notice one small jpg file I saved a few days ago was back to normal under 300kb. Whatever malady PS developed 'seems' to be under control now 🙂

Hi @3Thoroughbreds

Since it's not happening with other files, there's a good chance that the one file had the ancester metadata linked to above.

I'm glad it's working for you now!

Hi @3Thoroughbreds currently, the beta feature Live Gaussian blur is Mac only. The team is hoping to bring it to Windows end of November/December. Here is a thread on this:

Thank you,

Thank you so very much for the update Cory. I will hold onto the tutorial until this is availble since it is the very first feature shown in the video 🙂

Thanks so much for the insight 🙂  I work in PS almost all day every day so this is a kink in my work armor for sure. Hope they get it sorted out soon 🙂

Uninstalling likely won't fix anything as this appears to be PS trying to retain source metadata and then falsely duplicating it on save operations.

Thank you so so very much for the quick response Mylenium! I am not
extremely techy and wasn't sure how to save the way you suggested, But I
found an almost identical way which was a relief.

Do you think it may be wise to uninstall 2023 and reinstall to avoid this
issue?

There appear to be a few bugs (or more specifically a resurgence of an old bug from a few years ago) where extraneous metadata is embedded and often redundantly multiple times. The answer thereforee would be to check these things and use the legacy Save for Web with the Strip Metadata option to avoid the problem.
