Photoshop cannot open TIFFs without crashing — this needs engineering attention

I am a paying customer who currently cannot work because every TIFF I have tested opens in Camera Raw—even with TIFF handling disabled—and Photoshop crashes when I choose Open, Done, or Cancel. This affects both regular Photoshop and Photoshop Beta on my machine.

    My configuration:

    • Photoshop 27.10.0; Camera Raw 18.7, build 2743

    • MacBook Pro, Apple M1, 16 GB memory

    • macOS 15.7.5

My processor, memory, and operating system meet Adobe’s published Camera Raw requirements. Updates, reinstalls, preference resets, and the suggested TIFF-handling and GPU workarounds have not resolved this.

“It works on my computer” does not invalidate a reproducible failure on another supported configuration. A bug does not have to affect every installation to be a bug.

On September 15, an Adobe community manager acknowledged an investigation into Photoshop 27.10 unexpectedly routing TIFFs through Camera Raw despite TIFF handling being disabled. That acknowledgment concerns the TIFF-routing behavior; my additional failure is the crash when leaving Camera Raw.

Please escalate this to engineering and provide a tracking reference, an actionable workaround or verified compatible rollback, and a clear status on the fix. If you need a sample TIFF or diagnostic logs, specify exactly what to submit and where.

Opening a TIFF is basic functionality. I am paying for software that currently cannot perform it. Another round of generic reinstall advice is not an adequate response.

I’m afraid this isn’t the place to get what you’re looking for. This is a user-to-user forum, and we have no say, or sway, with the Adobe developers you want to address here.

You want to file an Adobe Bug Report through this link. This will get your issues before the folks who can help you.

    Hope this helps,

If you’re working with a beta, you may want to direct your question to the prerelease site. This question got posted in the Acrobat product support forum.

    Hope this helps,
