(10038837) Photoshop 2025 v. 26.0 Crashing at Splash Screen

My Photoshop app updated to version 26.0 three days ago. Today is the first day that I tried to use it since the update and it crashes at the "splash" screen. I do not have any issues with any of my other Adobe apps, so I am assuming it's a "bug" in this update? Anyone else having this issue?

Correct answer Fastidious

@Sameer K Please see below. I have followed various steps recommended here and in another thread. PS 26.0 crashes every time on the flash screen. I have tried 2025 Beta. and even reloaded 24..9 that used to work. I have rebooted. I have a 16 in MacBook Pro 2021 running Sequoia 15.1. After reinstalling and uninstalling 2024 and trying 2025 again, I finally got an error report - attached along with presious attachments below. As an aside, PS 26.0 works just fine on my Mac Studio. I could copy and settings from there is you think it would help.

I got the answer from ON1 support. The problem is old ON1 plugins prior to 2025. I went into the CC location and deleted all the old plugins.
MacintoshHD>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-Ins>CC

Thank you all for your advice.

I had the same problem, but I deleted the ON1 Plugins and now its working. My only final question would be, is there a way to reinstall the ON1 Plugins without having to upgrade them to 2025?

Thanks for your help

I am having the same problem on my MacBook Pro with M1. I tried 26 beta with the same result. Your link to how to report gets me a 404 page. Where is the crash log and how do I send it? BTW I have 26.0 on my Mac Studio with no problem.

Hey, @Stanley35254745t70a. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

I couldn't find crash reports submitted with the account you've signed in to the community with. If you see a crash dialogue, submit it with your Adobe ID. Check here for more steps: https://adobe.ly/3Wpjx0B

Does the problem exist if you use Photoshop (beta) v26.2? Get Photoshop (beta) from the Apps section > Beta Apps in the Creative Cloud desktop app.

If that does not help, please ensure no stale preferences in your Photoshop.

You can go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to back up. (https://adobe.ly/3u7u84j)

macOS: Hold down the Option key in the Finder when using the Go menu. The library will appear below the current user's home directory.

Library > Preferences > Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2025 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2025.old)

This will give a fresh start to Photoshop as a new installation.

Let me know if it helps. Thanks!

@Sameer K I downloaded Photoshop Beta v26.2 and it is working fine, but still a no-go on Photoshop v26.0. I sent crash reports on a few occasions (1 without comments and 2 with comments).

@Stanley35254745t70a Awesome! Glad to know Photoshop (beta) 26.2 is working for you.

We've got the crash report and I've shared it with the team to review. Additionally, would you mind sharing the system info from Photoshop (beta) Help menu > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > Upload & attach here, or share via a link?

Thanks!
