2018 Nik Collection Not Compatible

Have just downloaded the new update for PS 2018 and it would appear that you can no longer re-install the Nik collection as a plug in as it is not compatible. Anybody else noticed this yet or found a way around it?

I had the same issue. Copying NIK from PS CC 2017 to PS CC 2018 Plugin folders didn't work for me. Saving work from Color Efx back to PS crashed PS CC 2018. I found the problem for me was launching Color Efx from the filter menu in PS. Launching Color Efx from the Nik selective tool worked and did not crash PS. I didn't need to uninstall / reinstall or delete plist. Worked on on IMac 27 5k and MacBook Pro Retina both on High Sierra

Steps as follows:

Copy Google plugins folder from PS 2017 to PS 2018
If NIK selective tool is not present File>Automate>Nik Selective Tool. Selective tool should appear
Launch from Selective Tool

FYI... the Nik Collection was just bought out by DXO.com and the new Nik Collection 2018 will be released next year.

The solution I've found isn't perfect. If you right-click on the image in LightRoom (whether before or after reworking it in PhotoShop Classic, you can select "Edit In" to get the image into Viveza (or any other Nik app. The problem with the method is that Viveza 2 then only renders a .jpg or .tiff file. Of course, you can then "edit in" the .jpg in PhotoShop Classic and resave it as a .psd.

I had the exact same issue too. Upgrading PS 2017 on a MacBook Pro running the High Sierra OS. After upgrading to PS CC 2018 and reinstalling the Nik Collection, it crashed whenever I attempted to use some of the apps, such as Silver Efex. They would open fine but when I clicked OK to apply the filter, PS would crash. When clicking on the Settings within the Silver Efex app, click on the “After I click Ok” tab. Once there, change the default setting to be “Apply to the current layer” and it should work fine. Do that within each of the apps and they should work.

I'm on MBP 2015, Sierra. What worked for me:

1. Copy and paste the Google folder to the Plugins folder. I did this in PS 2017 and 2018.

2. Reset PS preferences from the Photoshop -> Preferences -> General tab click on "reset preferences" (this is the same as deleting the .plist file)

Unfortunately this is the first update to Photoshop that hasn't worked with NIK Collection for me.

I have tried all the suggestions in this group with no luck. NIK works, allows all adjustments, but closes PS on exit from NIK. It looks like the beginning of the end of NIK.

I have found a solution that works for me in Mac High Sierra.

Open each of your Nik Plugins, and press the "Settings" Button in the bottom left of the Nik window.

Select the item that says "After Clicking OK"

Change it to "Apply The Filtered Effect to the Current Layer"
Do this for each of the NIK filters except HDR Efex

This worked for me with High Sierra, now back to normal.

I tried to uninstall it and reinstall but it seems that Silver Efex isn't working. It seems that I'll go back to 2017 version just to use Silver Efex. Windows PC user here.
