2025 Photoshop Updates on an 2017 iMac

I have a 2017 iMac. It works just fine, however, I have been advised by Apple that I cannot update past Ventura on this model.

In Creative Cloud, Photoshop was unable to update to 2025. I can stop all further updates to Creative Cloud if they are not compatible with my older Mac, but my question is - for how long can I just continue to run Photoshop 2024 and other CC apps on my iMac before I need to buy a new machine? I'd like to try to make this one last a little longer but I'm not sure if that is feasible for much longer. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

Thank you!

How do you use Photoshop?  Are there any filters and plugins that don't work, or crash, you 2017 iMac?

In my experience, several of the Neaural and Parametric filters would crash my 2016 Windows system, but other than that, it was mostly usable.

have an 18 month old i9 13900K Windows system now that gives me a much better experience using Photoshop.  I don't do much photography, and use Photoshop mostly for illustration, image composites, frame animations etc. but it's definitely nice being able to use all of the Neural and Parametric filters.  There some real gems among them.

I also have an M2 Pro MacBook Pro with just 16Gb memory, and in many respects, it is snappier than my much more powerful Windows system.

The limiting factor for you is likely to be minimum system specs going forward.  V26 will work on OS12, so you might get one more major update before you will be left with the choice of sticking V26 or V27 (possibly, or replacing your mac.
