25.4 brush lag and graphics issues

Updated to 25.4 and had issue after a couple of minutes working fine then a flicker on screen, after that brush stroke wouldn't display until released and also graphic display issues with different tools, shut down ps and reopen same issue happening in identical way and time.

Guessing must be graphics related amd 6650xt usimg pro driver. Went all round the house updating drivers etc, no joy, eventually put back to 25.3 and all is well again.

    Hey, @dc289. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll move this to discussions for now and help you figure this out. Before troubleshooting, update Photoshop to the latest version (v25.5.1) via the Creative Cloud desktop app & check if the issue exists. 

     

    Does this happen after a specific series of steps? Besides Photoshop's lag with brush & other graphics, check the Processes in the task manager (Windows) for unexpected read/write operations. To begin troubleshooting, test some variables like:

    • In Photoshop, go to Edit > Preferences (CTRL + K) > Performance > Advanced Settings > Disable 'GPU Compositing' & restart Photoshop & check if it helps.
    • Unplug any external peripherals & use wired input devices.
    • Temporarily, unplug extra displays & only keep one active at a time. 

    Sometimes, the latest AMD drivers are not stable. Try rolling back to the last recommended version of drivers from more than 60 days and less than 6 months old.
